Q: So who is Dreadnought?
A: We are the 3rd Hayling Fellowship Scout Unit. Fellowships can be attached to Districts, Counties or Groups. Dreadnought aims to aid 3rd Hayling in making the 3rd Hayling Scouts the best that they can be.
Q: What is a Fellowship?
A: A fellowship is a Scout Unit aged 18+ who still wish to remain active members within scouts. These can be leaders, instructors or just people who want to help out in other ways. Fellowship groups can be involved in all sorts of aspects of Scouting, not just providing additional leaders, Fellowship groups can provide exposure to different activities and aid with raising funds for Scouting as well.
Q: Why the name Dreadnought?
A: Ever heard of Dreadnought VSU (Venture Scout Unit)? No, well you should have! Dreadnought VSU were the 3rd Hayling Venture Scout Unit and were renowned for being the toughest, most hardcore Venture Scout group in Hampshire (perhaps the World). OK so now you know the history of the name. We have taken their name and hope to educate everyone once again to realise that the name Dreadnought should be revered and its members regarded as Scouts to be reckoned with...
Q: Is it all work and no play?
A: Definitely not, as a member of Fellowship you have access to all the Scout campsites’ you have grown up loving such as Lions Copse, Ferny crofts and who can forget Broadstone Warren. As well as being able to use all these fantastic sites for Fellowship only camps, we tie in with Network Scouts to ensure that Network District Events (Hampshire) are open to Dreadnought members.
Q: Who is eligible?
A: If you want to help out and give your support to Scouting then you will be more than welcome
(N.B. A CRB check must be carried out for every member)
Q: Does it cost to be a member of Dreadnought?
A: Yes like all Scout Groups/Units you are required to pay capitation. This covers use of the 3rd Hayling Scout Hut, Scout insurance, equipment upkeep etc..
